News About PASS For Week Ending November 15, 2014

Summary

Mala Mahadevan, the Louisville Chapter Leader, wrote a nice summary of a twitter chat about user group funding options. On that same topic, you should also read JUST AN IDEA: BARE BONES SQL by Jen McCown for a different approach on funding and managing chapters. For chapter leaders that need speakers (all of them!), read Calling all user group leaders! We want to present for you in 2015! Former PASS Board Member Rick Heiges posted Where do 100-Level Sessions belong at PASS?, thoughts on when it makes sense to have 100 level (beginner) topics at the Summit.

We’re now including posts from Grant Fritchey in the “official news” section even though his term doesn’t begin until January 1, 2015.

PASS has an archive page at http://sqlpass.org/AboutPASS/Governance/MinutesArchives.aspx that has not been maintained, something we noticed when checking to see if the minutes of the 2014 Board Q&A had been posted. We also note that archives of the Connector (the official bi-weekly email from PASS) aren’t available on the PASS site, definitely something that would be useful to members.

Next week we’ll start to include portions of Twitter conversations relevant to PASSWatch readers.
